We came with the Northern Winds! A review

Some time passed before the dvd show at the Metal Female Voices Fest was released as a complete digipack including 2 cd’s of the live show and 2 dvd’s, one of the show and a documentary of Leaves’ Eyes life on the road.

Watching this documentary does give a wonderful and personal view of how this band see their life on the road. It is great to see what kind of experiences a popular band like Leaves’ Eyes have all over the world and how fans can react when seeing their favourite band. Besides this part also interviews and anecdotes of the band members can be seen. Moreover we meet Liv’s family as they tell us just a little more about this warm and kind person.

As a fan it is great to see and hear how this band thinks about their work, their fans and each other. It is a very personal way of learning more and getting to know this band for everyone all over the world....

The other DVD contains the full show that was given in .Belgium, and how great to be able to relive it all again. For fans who were not able to attend this show, it is a great chance to see what a great show Leaves’ Eyes had put together.

Reliving it does bring back memories and some emotions of this day. The excitement and waiting for the show to begin, talking to the bandmembers and the wonderful show with all of my favourite songs. The energy on stage can be felt trough the screen, especially with a person like Alex being on stage. Liv complements everything with her warm personality and voice.

For me some emotional moments are relived when hearing ‘Mourning Tree’ which has always been a song that brings a lump in my throat. But also ‘Leaves’ Eyes’ and ‘For Amelie’ bring back special memories and being able to hear it live as often as you want, is just a great bonus.

So al in al this piece of work was really worth waiting for and you know what; this band just gained a new fan in my 8 months old daughter!
